"I've Been Hoping Someone Will Love You, Let Me Go"

I don't know if you've heard of “Let Me Go” by Hailee Steinfeld

Maybe you have, maybe you haven’t

The chorus goes something like “I’ve been hoping somebody loves in the ways I couldn’t. Somebody’s taking care of all the mess I’ve made. Someone you don’t have to change. I’ve been hoping someone will love you, let me go”.

Of course this is the perfect post-break-up song to jam out to

But actually, I see it as me letting go of this twisted idea I have of myself

The idea of not being enough

Of needing to change who I am to be accepted

But somehow in that chorus, I heard a message from God.

-- Yeah, leave it to me.. I mean what can i say

I see it as letting God love me in the ways I couldn’t. Taking care of the mess I made. Loving me the way I am.

That somebody “I hope for”.. is God.

It’s saying I need just need to let go of my old ways / ideas of myself and let him be there to decide who I am and not my past.

Sure it might sound a little complicated and I’m putting way too much thought into this, but it’ll hit you at midnight.

Funny how you can find God, in the most unintentional ways.
